New Bowling Season Starting On September 19th!!

Welcome back everyone!

The 2015-2016 bowling season will start this year on Saturday, September 19th at 6:20 p.m.  It was decided at the team selection Captain's meeting that we would push our start date up a week because there were many bowlers that would miss the first night. That will give everyone the chance to get over to Olympic Lanes and shoot a few practice games if you want and start the season off with a bang!

We have some new bowlers joining us this year making a well rounded league of 24 bowlers, however, we are not closing the doors just yet!  There are more folks that may be interested in joining us so we are looking to expand to 32 bowlers and 8 teams of 4 instead of 6!  Get the word out to your family and friends to come and join us this season!

At a meeting held on Sunday, August 30th (also Ted's birthday), the following teams were chosen:

Team # 1:  Ed Troicke, Mark Johnson*, Ken Comtois, Lynne Weir

Team # 2:  Jeff Lind, Julie Lind, Charlie Magee, Sally Premo*

Team # 3:  Josh Kendall, Mary Magee, Tim Hannah*, Freddie Wedro

Team # 4:  Ted Hudson, Bruce Ottmer, Jim Wedro, Alex Nagy*

Team # 5:  Elliott Pratt, Dean Heald, Jim Weir, Alice Hudson

Team # 6:  Jack Fitzpatrick, Clare Brockley*, Brian Gawlowski, Kay Gawlowski

*denotes new bowler :)

This year's handicap will be based on 100% of the difference between the two teams competing, meaning that of the two teams that are bowling together, only one team will receive handicap so that both of those teams start out even.

As far as other "need-to-know" information before we start ...
1.  Weekly dues are $17/week.  If you get three weeks behind, you will NOT be allowed to participate in any of the jackpot games (Jim Weir will continue to run pins over & Ted Hudson will continue to run cards).

2.  Sanction dues ($17) are to be paid the first night of bowling.  You will also need to fill out your sanction application on that night.

3.  The next two weeks are double pay weeks to cover those nights of bowling and the last two weeks of the season.  You will be allowed 6 weeks to catch up your envelope without penalty.

4.  We will continue to follow the two-lane courtesy rule when bowling.  Please look both ways when you are up so that you don't find yourself "running up" on the player to your left or right.

5.  Pre-bowling will be allowed if you know you will be unable to attend during a regular bowling session.  You must contact your team captain or a league officer to come and watch/verify your scores.  Please let us know if you will be pre-bowling.  You will still be responsible for your regular dues.

There will be lots more to post as we start the season. Remember to save this blog to your favorites so you can stay up to date on all the news!!

Ed tops the league in last night of regular competition!

The last week before the final position night of the season puts ED TROICKE back on top as Bowler-of-the-Week.  Ed shot 255-720 to sit in that seat once again!  Congratulations!

Saturday is POSITION NIGHT -- Teams will be bowling for team placement spots and everyone has this last chance to bowl their best to earn individual award money.  The prize fund pot is considerably larger this year, so you will see an increase in your envelopes even though you may be in last place!  Good Luck and Good Bowling!!

NEXT WEEK (April 18th) is our final night of bowling for the season.  It is our annual HI LOW (high average bowler + low average bowler becomes a team).  You are reminded to bring $17 CASH for the tournament.  Jackpots will also be offered as always.  Based on the number of teams bowling we will pay out at least 4 spots for top bowling and 1 spot for the low team.  Prizes will be paid out after the tournament.

After practice this last week, League President Jack Fitzpatrick made an important announcement stating that each team captain is now required to make sure the scores written on the score sheet match the scores on the screen BEFORE each screen is advanced to the next game.  When the scores match, please initial that you (the team captain) have verified the scores on the sheets.
